Portugal

Portugal is an exotic country located in the southwestern of Europe that includes the archipelagos of Madeira and the Azores in the Atlantic Ocean. In Europe, the Portuguese territory covers an area of 88,889 km2 sharing 1,215 km land border with Spain, together form the Iberian Peninsula. This country has a long history behind football and in this post we will discuss the most important aspects.


On the one hand we have the Portuguese League, better known as Primeira Liga. It is held since 1934 and has a duration of 10 months, from September to May and features a total of 18 teams, highlighting the CF Porto, SL Benfica and Sporting Lisbon. Currently these clubs are there more leagues under his belt with 33, 27 and 18 respectively, so we can say that is a unevenness league about the quality of their equipment.

As best ever player in this league highlight the Portuguese Eusebio, playing a total of 17 seasons, scoring 331 goals and getting seven titles, playing in the Beira-Mar and later in the Benfica, where he won all of his tittles.


In terms of selection, this country has a team founded in 1914, joining FIFA in the year 1923, however played his first international match in 1921 with the Spanish team, losing 3-1 this meeting.


The greatest achievement by the team was second in the 2004 European losing the final against Greece, being coach Luiz Felipe Scolari.
